Should be fine,
using apc ups myself, just an older model, only thing to watch out for is replacement batteries cost quite a bit so went with generic rather than apc originals but you should get 3-4yrs from a new one anyhow.
Is it normal for it to Buzz loudly? It also seems to cause the PSU in my PC to buzz as well? And it wipes out my interent connection (modem on and communicating with PC but looses the bb connection).
Is this normal?
The PC is 70cm away from the UPS and the modem 90cm for reference. The manual recommends a minimum of 30 cm.
Anyone else noticed this with theirs? Is this an RMA job?
PSU in PC is an Enermax Noisetaker (460W I think) if that makes a difference!
Contact APC mate they are great in getting back to emails. I managed to get hold of one of there server UPS's and had a few questions so asked via email and answer was within 24hrs and it was helpful!!

Loud buzzing is completely normal when running off battery. If its when the mains is still active it may be a duffer, my SmartUPS is near enough silent.
Hey blobber i have the smart ups 1500, not sure if your going to be able to answer this. I have 2 computers and an emac plus 2 monitors on my ups and if the emac goes into sleep mode and i start it up the UPS kind of gives a load wirring like its starting up or something do you get this?
According to APC support, the buzzing is not normal for a healthy UPS!
This is the reply from them...
"Thankyou for your email. Buzzing and humming sounds are not consistent with a well operating UPS. Normally they should not make a detectable noise except when the fan is running but in this case it does not seem to be like the fan. Please let me know the serial number of the UPS. I'll shall check the warranty on the product. "
The only time it does buzz is when it's on battery.
I thought it may be normal at first but when I used to work in an office, a few brown outs caused a UPS to kick in and the PC fan made more noise.
