Worth it?
Ive got a 720p LCD and have little intention of switching my collection to BR or HD at any point in the near future but will buy an upscaling DVD player if I will see a noticeable difference
Thanks, Mark
I run my xbox360 as a dvd player to my NEC 20wgx2 monitor at 1360 * 720 via the ms vga cable and it looks so good with most decent dvd's I can't imagine blue ray of hd dvd look that much better.
I'm fact i've seen a few BR's being played and the difference is very minimal.
It also depends on the dvd being played, I watched one of the new Starwars via this method and it look totally rubbish as the quality is so bad the monitors shows up all the detail that a crt would hide.
Watched Black Hawk down and it looked awsome !
when i ran bluray's from my PS3 to my 42 inch panasonic plasma at 720p i didnt see what the big deal was. granted it was crisper, but not that much crisper.
lots of people are disappointed with bluray on their 720p screens and wrongly blaming bluray itself. there's little wrong with bluray of course

The ps3 has won many awards for being an amazing dvd upscaler.
For a dvd upscaler you would be mad to not get a EP30/EP35 HD-DVD player these days, very good upscalers for dvd and obv can also playback HD-DVD !
Mind you it does mean I have had my son playing Transformers HD DVD far too often for the last month
