How Do i upscale my sound from my Sapphire 5970 to my amp ?
There is an adaptor that has DVI one end, and HDMI on the other. i take it that's just for the picture.
It has a Mini DisplayPort on the back on the card, but not sure what that does lol :p

I want to play my blue-rays via 5.1 True.HD. it says the card is HDCP Capable.

Just never done this on a card before, so was wondering if anyone knew how to :D

Cheers.

it will do audio (7.1) via the DVI to HDMI adapter you have which came with the card :)

Hi,
Yeah worked. thanks for that mate.
Is there a program where i can change sound setting whiles playing music.
as before i was using my optical lead from my on board sound card, which has a program with it called sound max. and i could improve sound for music.
i take it i can do away with on onboard sound now, as the Graphics card will support normal DTS etc when playing normal DVD'S.
It won't affect peformance in games doing this way will it ?
I was going to get the Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 Sound Card. but don't need to now :)

Thanks a lot :)

I just did hdmi to hdmi to my denon av1910

The 5970 Don't have a HDMI connetion on it. hence why i had to do it the otherway :)

You need the latest build of ffdshow as it can do TrueHD and DTS-MA, and all the other formats too, bitstreaming to an amp if you have mkvs with these tracks. If you need more info or help with this feel free to PM me, I can't post the links here.

Also, TMT3 and PDVD can do bitstreaming via a 5xxx series card from Blu-ray too.

Hi glad to help and unlike Nvidia cards which just use a spdif as a pass through ATI cards have there own audio chipset on the card that can pass lossless sound directly through the HDMI connector. This has been upgraded (since 4 series) as it's now possible to have 7.1 channel lossless sound 192kHz / 24-bit. The HDMI audio output follows HDMI standard 1.3a and now also supports Dolby True HD and DTS-HD audio. Obviously there is also support for standard PCM, AC-3 and DTS.

As for adjusting the sound i guess it depend on the application or maybe the catalyst control panel will detect HDMI audio output and reveal an option. Im pretty sure your card uses a realtek AL885 although not 100% on this so may be worth double checking that. Im sure that if you goto realteks site you'll find something there to allow a mixer style app to adjust the output to your liking.
