Upside down HDD

You may do a low-level format (put HDD to Amiga, if you have one :) ) and after that, if normal formatting would give you some bad blocks, it's high time to change your HDD.
 
I gotta agree. I've mounted HDDs upside down, on its side and at 45deg angles. HDDs only had problems if you tend to move them whilst in operation. When stationary, they tend to just work. HDD heads float on a cushion of air, within a controlled environment.

Sounds like a bad HDD in general, they do exist :(

The days of there being problems with HDD orientation are long gone. It's been a none issue for at least 15 years.

Even in the old days, you'd only have to park the heads before changing a drive's orientation.
