Hi,

Two days ago I put in my new gtx 760 and ran my secondary monitor was running on the integrated graphics. I launched windows after installing all the drivers for nvidia, Asus gpu tweak etc and I got a black screen after logging in, with only gpu tweak launching but no windows Explorer or anything. I reset, and now windows wouldn't launch at all. I took the card out, and reinstalled windows. I left the old files on the SSD and after restoring a few times on the new Windows, it ran a disk check. I therefore reset half way through the disk check and reinstalled again. This time everything worked okay, but the ethernet shows no internet connection, although being connected to the network. Reinstalled the network drivers to move avail, now having to use a wifi dongle. Does anyone know what could be going on? The first reinstallation of windows also had broken Internet towards the end if it's life.

Might have to resort to an RMA :/ is there anything I can do to check it definitely is the port?

Have you gome into your bios to make sure that ethernet is enabled ?, have you got more than one ethernet port on your mobo you cold try, if it is enabled and there is activity showing on the led then can you try another ethernet cable ?

are you using latest bios? tested the ssd on any third party sata ports

asmedia/marvell ect if you have them

Not using latest bios but haven't had any problems before :/ Used a different ethernet cable aswell

Might I ask if I need to push the clear CMOS button when the computer is on or off and whether to unplug the power cable/not?

turn pc off then clear cmos

some issues with sandforce ssd's on intel sata ports and z87 chipset so it might be that, marvell ports should be unaffected

Don't think the ethernet problem would be related to that. Well the cmos clear didn't seem to work, still says "No internet connection." I saw a load of stuff that I could do in the cmd console, should I have a go at it? I really don't want to go through the hassle of an RMA if I can help it :(

true I was thinking of the things not loading like you said

can try the cmd prompts, you used to be able to see a mac address on older x58 boards bios's,that pretty much told you that the nic was working if you saw an address ect, dont think theres a way to see on x87?

tried updating or reflashing the bios? that might get the lan port working

Thanks for all the help with the ethernet problems, but I think I fixed it. We have about 4 routers total in our house, with one disabled (ie not transmitting wireless.) It seems that a combination of all of these wasn't really doing our internet much good xD so after a complete reset of all of them, it seems to be working fine. However, the graphics card isn't in the pc and won't be until probably this weekend until I find/sort this GPU Tweak problem thing, could it be the motherboard's PCIE Lane messing up? (Doubt it) or just a GPU Tweak program problem (guessing it will be this.) I'll also run it in the marvell controller like you said wazza :)

try sapphire trixx for your gpu, asus gpu tweak can be problematic at times

msi afterburner you can try aswell

I always use MSI Afterburner. It has never caused me any issues, and it is convenient because you can install it side by side with MSI Kombustor (like Furmark) and stability test while you tweak etc.

Ah nice, okay thanks. I think what I'll do is just run the two screens off the single graphics card and not use any sort of program like that for a bit, only the Nvidia GF experience and the drivers/control panel for the time being, just to check stability - also will change to the marvell controller

Right-o, on the second reinstall having some problems. I installed the app centre from gigabyte and then the nvidia drivers. The nvidia drivers didn't install correctly and geforce experience didn't install, and also the control panel wasn't open. I tried to uninstall all the stuff installed through "uninstall a program" but every time I opened it up I got "Windows Explorer has stopped working." so therefore can't do anything!

Help!

Well decided to do another reinstall, but can anyone give me advice on how to install/what order to install the drivers?

Of course I'd do the main ones supplied by the disc first (for gigabyte, the LAN etc) but then what? Nvidia drivers, or the AppCentre drivers for gigabyte also on the disc? These two seem to be conflicting, don't know why but they just do :(
