Have just flashed my MB bios for a MSI Neo 2 platinum in order to upgarde to a x2 chip I have. This appears to have gone all ok except I cant get into Windows

I recieve the error before the DMI pool part stating:

Warning: Have option ROM can not be invoke (Vendor ID: 10ECH, Device ID:8169H)

Then I get the No system disk Failure line and thats it, no XP!!!

I have x2 SATA HD and x1 CD ROM and x1 Floppy. I am assuming I have lost my raid driver or something? Can anyone help??? Really really appreciate if someone has had this issue and knows of a simple workaround!!!

It resets the BIOS to its defaults.

You can do it by shorting the CMOS jumpers beside the battery (your mobo manual will show you where they are located) or by unplugging the power cord and removing the motherboards battery for a couple of minutes.

CMOS stores all the settings in the BIOS, so if you say... disable onboard sound or start overclocking it will remember that. Those settings are held by the CMOS only when it has power (that is what the battery on your board is for, without it you'd lose your settings every time the power is turned off at the plug).

If the CMOS is cleared it will be reset with the default values from the BIOS and should be done after a flash because the old settings may not be compatible with the new BIOS version.

Thanks Tetras it worked :)

Just cleared the CMOS (checked the procedure in MB manual to do this as you said), powered up the PC and it booted my hard disks and back into XP :D.

Thanks sooooooooooo much for the tip. Now need to think about changing the CPU (Think I will do this later in the week, flashing the bios scared me enough today!!!) Cheers, D.
