Need some serious help with a Data loss problem.
The work system has spat it's dummy out & some Very important files have been lost :( + :mad:
Basically the PC started up & there are loads of files missing & it won't allow any access to progs saying that the user is not the Admin although the Admin is the only account on the system and the guest account is Off. The only anomoly i can see on the desktop is the two clocks although an Hour apart yesterday are now on the same time. Whether that's relevant i don't know but i have to mention it as the only noticeable change to the desktop/system.
I should add that these files were stored on Desktop.
Any advise/help would be Greatly appreciated as my Boss is totally & utterly ****** & sorting this would make me the Hero for the year.
We have tried some data recovery software but it was crap, i am just trying Easy recovery Pro now.

All i can say is Please Help me out.

Well it doesn't sound like a HDD problem mate, as Windows telling you that you aren't admin isn't normally a symptom of a HDD failure.

Is the PC connected to the net? I'd put my finger on a nasty piece of malware, be it a virus, worm, trojan etc. Try booting into safe mode on the PC and run every malware program installed.
 
Cheers for the quick responce guys. My thoughts are a Virus/malware but at the moment i am running some data recovery software which has found just under 5 million files. At the mo i have left him to sift through the files to see if there is anything relevant/needed. Failing that first thing in the morning i am going to go down the safe mode route anyways & check the system out fully.

Any other suggestions/help Welcome.
