urgent help, washing clothes...

About 30 secs......... throwing the clothes into the machine, putting the powder in the tray ( or tablets in the bag , read the instructions on your box) , turn a dial to 40C, and press the ON button.
Then wait and hope the machine doesn't explode. If it does you did something wrong but by that time i dont think youd care too much :D

just forget it. If you aint learned by now dont bother.

Just turn the clothes inside out and so you get another weeks wear out of them until your girlfriend gets back :D

Good advice.

( Your sig is against forum rules  )

how long dya reckon it will take for me to learn? as you said its not rocket science...any clues?

About 30 seconds to locate the dial on the washing machine and another 20 seconds to find the drawer to put the powder into.

Its really not hard. Women manage it everyday. :p

Washing machines were designed for the female mind.. alien technology!!

seriously though.. throw everything in a 40 wash it'll be fine

separate out new dark/coloured items and jeans, i wash them separately for a few runs then after that they go in with the rest. chances are you don't have any especially delicate things to wash being a bloke

Just to echo everyone else, seperate all your whites and do those at 40. Then wash the colours at 40.

Its really that simple. Usually a full load takes 2 tablets (usually a different kind for whites and coloureds as colour tablets usually contain something to stop the dyes running) as well as fabric softner (fill to the line).

It would be almost impossible to wreck your clothes at 40 degrees, think about it you can wear them in 40 degree heat and the dye doesn't come off.

Separate whites from other colours then wash (or not) as per labels.....clicky

If you have a load to wash and some need 60 degrees and some need 40 degrees just wash them all at 40 and it will come out fine.

Gosh, washing up isn't difficult at all mate. i never did laundary at home until i went to university and yet i washed my clothes with no difficulty at all.

All whites in together.....all darks in together. I had to ask my ex gf well, while she was my gf what to do when i was up that lovely creek without at paddle.

She still finds it hilarious to this day.

*If a woman can do it......a man certainly can    *

safest bet is too just do a quick wash on a low temp , no chance of anything getting ruined

might not be too clean like

so do it twice :p

... and no one thinks this guy might be pulling our collective leg?

You've clearly never met my cousin.
0-18 - Mum did laundry
18-25 - University laundry service (Canada) and Mum over the summer
26-28 - Laundret service (drop off dirty clothes, pick up clean clothes)
29-present day - Moved in with fiancee (now wife) she does all the washing.

For gods sake check your suits aren't dry clean only!

Look at your labels on any of your expensive stuff (and other stuff also if you have time!)

http://www.apparelsearch.com/care_label_symbols.htm

Compare to the symbols you see on that link.

/ninja edit Got to say i only moved out of my house when i was 25 and had never washed an item of clothing in my life, and until i was 27 i used to just bag it all up for about 3 weeks then take it home for my mum to wash and iron!

40C, seperate whites, lights and darks

remove anything delicate or weird, wool, silk, dry clean only, etc

away you go

and if your a student like me, all in one wash @ 40, had nothing go grey/pink yet :D

Haha, good old washing related threads!
I'm still not sure I'm washing my clothes right, the machine in this flat seems far different to the one my parents have... So far all my clothes have come out the machine smelling freshalicious, it could still be wrong though.
As for the drawer, I hate it's evil ways, I just chuck the conditioner in the one I think is right, and use the stuff that goes in the drum in that container thing...
