basically I run through the windows install procedure and it boots fine into windows for the first time then when I install the chipset drivers and restart the pc, I get boot disk failure ??

Any ideas on this one.

Was it because after the first boot you still had boot priority on CD drive first? :)

Nope matey

I pressed F8 on post and selected HDD manually, that would have been a school boy error and I would have picked up on it.

Besides the motherboard will try and boot from the other sources even if it was set to cd(without a bootatble disc)

it would have worked with normal drivers if you disabled jmicron or whatever its called i had same problem

The sata cable was definately working,
I never reseated the cable, and it just worked when I installed different drivers.

I reinstalled windows 3 times, so with a faulty sata cable that wouldn't have happened.

I am an experienced builder so simple things like dogi cables would be obvious.

It was definately the drivers. I rebooted windows fine without installing the drivers off the disc.

Perhaps the sata drivers was corrupted or something.
