URGENT help with removing Scythe Ninja Plus heatsink attachment

I took it off another forum, but i imagine you get a petrolium based solvent and apply a little (say using an earbud) to the areas where it is stuck down. let it soak for a few minutes. use dental floss to get the corners seperated. then use a really long piece of dental floss wrapped around the back of the board. wind up either end of the dental floss around two screwdrivers and ' cut the plate away from the motherboard' .

Seems simple enough.

Don't try to remove it! My friend did something similar to the dental floss idea when he had to return his board and managed to knock off one of the tiny resistors.

When i returned my asus board, I just left the ninja backplate on. It caused no problem with the RMA. I then emailed scythe who send me a new backplate within 2 days. Thats what i call service!

Did you send it back to Overclockers and it was fine with the backplate on?

If thats the backup service you going to get then definetly the way to go.

Scythe just sent me an email back saying that I should get it off with a hair dryer and then pull (as you guys suggested at first) which I did for a while but gave up.

Am going to send back to Overclockers with the backplate on, Scythe have said they'll send me a new backplate so I'm happy with their service (email reply in < than 24 hours).

I have now learnt my lesson to use my head more with stuff like that (should have left the covering on the backplate so I could easily get it off).

Thanks for the help everyone :)
Craig.

No, The Scythe Ninja comes with a metal backplate for the back of the mobo,

Unfortunately it comes with a stupid tacky foam pad, which is almost impossible to remove :p
