Yes, the K2 runs passively and is very good at it.
@stock speed, I can prime it and only hit low/mid 60's without fans. (Edit: 61c actually)

Snips, look at your bios fan settings.

Btw, this isn't a K2 fan issue. It's a PWM settings issue with your mobo

Is there a fan speed threshhold limit in your motherboards bios fan settings? Im unfamiliair with gigabyte boards, but on my asus, the fans did run slow at boot and i got a cpu fan warning. In the fan control menu theres an option to change the speed setting to eliminate this error.

Hm check your mobos setup. My K2 use to run all the time no matter what. Do they run at all on none PWM headers?

Although it's not causing me an issue, I did manage to take a quick look on boot this morning. Smart fan control was set to AUTO as the fan speed would jump from 0-77rpm every so often. Changes to PWM and now starts them up at full speed followed by a gradual reduction to 520 idle.

Strange, this never happened with my old cooler!
