I have just added another 2 x 512MB RAM modules to my PC, bringing the total to 4 x 512MB of RAM. The system POSTs fine, and Windows XP starts loading, but then I get a blank screen and the system reboots.

I have tried going into Safe Mode and Last Known Good Configuration, but the same thing happens...

The system is overclocked, but the RAM is in fact underclocked by 2Mhz, lol!

Any suggestions please?

Tried the new ram by itself? Taken the new ram out and tried the old ram by itself?

Or tried the new ram in the slots your old ram was? I presume they the same rated speeds etc.

Let me go and try all that now, and I will get back to you :)

Alright... I have just tested it:

- original ram works in all slots
- new ram in original ram slots gives:

"system32\drivers\ntfs.sys is corrupt or missing" error

I am currently replacing that file from my Windows XP CD...

Alright... system is set to stock, and when loading the Windows XP Setup (tried two different CDs), I kept getting an error saying it could not load a particular file. I put the old RAM back in and Windows XP Setup runs fine, and the system even boots fine without any missing or corrupt errors

Most likely bad Memory. Just to double check though i would try Memtest but sounds like faulty Memory to me. Me things RMA time.

Bought off another guy on these forums... and he used it in his machine all day yesterday to test it

I have also just read up elsewhere, that the problem I am experiencing is to do with bad RAM, so your theory is confirmed :(
