URGENT PLEASE HELP

Hey Guys,

I recently changed my case and upgraded my cpu cooler. So i took everything apart and put it back together it took me 5 hours thats how careful i was being.
Now you know what im going to say. I hit the power button on the case and nothing. The only thing that happens is that a red light on the motherboard lit up. But it is lit as soon as the power comes from the mains. Not when i push the power button on the case.
I have an abit ip35 pro motherboard. I am downloading the manual at the moment at 5 kbs LOL doing my head in.
Any ideas?
 
im going to geuss not. Can i just connect the power 1 to test or do they all need to be plugged in? The red light that is lit up on my motherboard is next to the 24pin connector by the way
 
Double check all power connections are secure.
Is the power button to the header on the board in the right place.

Edit: you need both 8 pin and 24 pin power.
 
Yeah, you don't need to connect them all for one thing to work, just make sure the little cable for the power is on the right jumper and round the right way.
 
guys i think the cmos is broke. My computer in terms of lights and sounds boots up fine. I managed to get to my desktop. It then installed all the drives as windows 7 does. Said i needed a restart so i did. But now my monitor does nothing. The blue light which says it is on just flashes. Its not blue screening or anything its just black. I manually restarted the cmos by moving the pin thing but now i got a feeling i need to do it again but i believe it will just crash again.

Any ideas?
 
Try checking video card is seated correctly. But you might need a fresh install had this other day guy didnt know how to format or anythink his came up with black screen also. once formated and windows re installed it was perfect.
 
what will that prove though?
since forgetting studs i have:

1.taken the motherboard out and inserted studs
2. booted went onto bios got really confused with the questions about cmos? Im geussing my computer think its all new hardware because i changed cases (added and removed everything.
3. It then booted but went to a blank screen the monitor light just appears on standby the blue lights flashes.
4. manually restarted cmos by moving cmos pin from 1-2 to 2-3.
5. restarted computer got to my desktop LOLWHUT it then installed the device software as windows does and asked me to restart do i did.
6. On restart it when to the blank screen again.

So i believe that by luck the motherboard is not damagaed but the bios/cmos is confused and i would like to know how to fix it
