Hi, ive just got my vista home premium 32 bit and im trying to install it. I put disk in restart pc and it says press any key to boot from cd/dvd so i do that. Then it boots into xp. I then went into the bios to set dvd drive as first priority and only cdrom and other stuff shows up, no dvd drive. So i dont know what to do. Help please!! :(

depending on the bios and motherboard, setting to bood from cd is usually enough and it will check all cd drives (if more than one is present).

If you do have more than one optical drive, disconnect the one that is not being used for the installation. Once Vista is installed, reconnect the Optical Drive.

im not that good with installing hardware to computers. I got my dvd drive around a year ago, and in bios first priority is cd rom. It says press any key to scan for disks i press a key and it loads into xp.. Theres nothing in the cd rom drive and my dvd drive is working.

I reckon you may be using a usb keyboard that your mobo doesnt like during boot. You tried plugging in a ps/2 one jus for the installation?

The dvd drive is working fine or it wouldnt say press any key....

The problem lies in the fact that it isnt sensing a button being pressed me thinks....
