Urgent problem with gf's PC.

She has a AMD Athlon 64x2 processor that's running at 2.01 GHz
And 2 MIGHTY GB OF RAM!
GFX card is a 8500GT
PSU Is a Trust 570w Dual Fan.

As said above, I set the boot priority to the Hard Drive and disabled the other options, and it still wants to boot from disk.

My PSU can power the card and I have connected it to the GPU.

What happens if you put your old graphics card back in; do you get the "boot from cd" prompt?

EDIT: Did you uninstall the Nvidia drivers before putting new card in?

No I didn't the writing was to bad for me to navigate anywhere on the PC properly, the screen was all messed up with purple and nothing was being displayed for me to navigate :/

We guessed where the steps were to log in but the home screen was just a mess.

And I have put the old card back in, and I get the boot screen I think.

It says "SK OOT IL E, INS R SYSTEM K AND PRESS EN R"

I recognize it :P

It could be that when your system crashed it borked the windows install. If so you'll need a windows disk to repair it.

Is there a disk in the CD drive, a USB key in one of the ports etc? This can happen if any of the above are present. Remove all and try again!

I've been told that using a boot CD (hirens?) could help solve a problem and get it started.

Not sure if anyone here has heard of it.

There's no disks, USB's anything connected.

A written statement...

Dear OcUK forums,

As you may be aware, my partners GPU had failed thus giving us no choice but to purchase a new one, as recommended by you forum members I purchased a XFX HD4850, delivery was swift and arrived the next day to my approval.

From what I can gather, a large mouse or something had obviously unplugged the hard drive, sabotaging my efforts!

Had another problem, where I uninstalled all the drivers, this was bad apparently!
So I used the last known configuration, it's now running and hopefully, hopefully, as long as that mouse doesn't come back, I will be fine.

fwum meeeee derrrp.
