Hi folks

I hearty virtual pat on the back for anyone that can find me a .pcf file...it doesn't matter what it's of, or how big it is, I just need to be sure that I can open, manipulate and print it.

I've not come across them before and I'm having trouble on Google...I just keep getting jpgs, hopefully someone could have more luck than me...?

Many MANY thanks in advance!!!

PCF is a font format..

If I sent you a pcf file, I'd be sending you a font.

Oh...not really what I was expecting :(

I have read that most image programs should be able to open it: http://www.liutilities.com/products/winbackup/filextlibrary/files/PCF/

It says..."The .PCF file extension is associated with pixel coordination format graphics image files. It should be possible to open these file types using any leading image viewers. The .PCF file extension is also associated with a large range of other applications including Calyx Point Mortgage Loan Origination and Processing Software, Paint Shop Pro and Unix (where it identifies font files).. Incorrect associations are the cause of many file extension errors."

*flummoxed*

Edit: It should be a picture file in this not instance (not used for VPN etc.) as it was created by software for uploading to an online lab and printing.

I just need to find, and see if I can open in Photoshop a PCF file as someone is wanting to send one to me and I need to know if I can open it or not, so I don't look like a lemon if they send the file and then I can't open it.

I'm just looking for any file online that is a graphical file with a .pcf extension. I wouldn't have a problem if it was a .jpg file...but then I really would be a lemon if I had to check if that would open or not :D

How about instead of running around like a headless chicken trying to find a file type why not just say to the person that they can send it but you do not know if you will be able to open it?

If you had of done that instead of asking here you would already know and probably have the job done.

Why don't you make a PCF file using Photoshop??

Just use save as, then open it up again.

Sorted.

Have you checked the photoshop documentation for any mention of .pcf?

Yes, I've checked the help file and Adobe online...no sign of any PCF file...though they do keep trying to correct me to PDF

Ah...if only it was that simple...they are at work and the file is at home, but they still need an answer today.

I did think of that but Photoshop doesn't have any settings for PCF as far as I can see. :(

Either that's a really big and really poor ASCII image, or Opera doesn't support PCF.

Yeah I loaded it up into notepad to check it out and it is a pile of 0 (black I spose) and F/FF/FFF/FFFF's (white). No ideas about the spec of the file format so cant say if this or isnt a true pcf format file.

Yup....it is indeed a stupid format and I'm going to have to give it up as a bad job.

Thanks very much for your input one and all, it's greatly appreciated :D:D:D

Just one of those things I guess, thanks anyway :)
