Urgently looking for a part for mobile vets van

Colleague at work had this on his motorhome (Peugeot Partner based). Took weeks and weeks plus a hefty bill to get a new Airbag ECU sourced. Seems to be quite a common fault too so its a shame they can't get on top of the supply.

He too was stuck without the use of it as he couldn't get it through the MOT. Luckily for him the replacement came in a week before the 6 week Scotland tour he'd planned for his post retirement trip.

This is by far your best option. That company seems to be very familiar with the problem and are most likely to be able to fix it. They also give a 1 day turn around time and charge a fixed fee of £70. Sounds like a no brainer!

Yeah I read their website
But looks like they deal with resetting crash data
Or if your ECU needs resetting because your battery went flat etc
They already had that sort of thing looked at
But diagnostic repair was unsuccessful
No communication from the ECU
Probably some tiny PCB part failed that costs pennies
But finding someone who can diagnose
And repair it on PCB levels a whole different problem
Sadly we live in a throwaway society
With most times it's a case of a whole new PCB
If something like a capacitor goes
And though that site offers new ECU if there's no diagnostic communication
Like everywhere else they're showing out of stock

Yeah reading that link given
Seems to happen a lot to motorhomes
Probably because they aren't always in constant use
So batteries can go flat or too low

And weeks and weeks is actually quicker
Than they're being told
Months is what they're hearing
Seems crazy but everything with a chip in it is in massive demand
So I guess some things get prioritised over others

Dealers are funny price wise - I've had them quote £30 on parts it would cost me £90-100 to source and fit myself or £48 in another case for something which would have cost me £199 to buy online - but conversely £260 for parts I can buy for less than £60, etc. (or one of the recent ones - they wanted £66 to replace windscreen wipers :o that just needed cleaning off anyhow - but £19 and an easy 2 minute job to replace myself) so always worth checking.

(And that doesn't include the dealer labour rate).
Very true have experienced that before
Usually you assume the dealers will be most expensive
So don't bother with them
But costs nothing to phone them first anyway

I'm guessing a brand new ECU from the dealership would be funny money if they could find one...4..5X the price of a used or recon

I'd try phoning some local independent garages that deal with commercial vehicles and hope they can put you in contact with someone that can help, also..maybe an auto electrician that deals with commercials would know someone
Even if it's the case that it's something stupid like £700 or more
Every day off the road adds up to more than the cost of it
Not to mention they were about to neuter 40 or 50 cats
For local charities for free which is now on hold
And yes they're phoning all the local garages
And motor factors
And guys who have units on the industrial estate
Who do commercial stuff
