Hello there!

Ok so I have a real fetish for big naked bikes (not the local lass') and was offered a CB1300 2005 with 19k miles for £3300 but I want an XJR 1300SP more than anything!

I have only been riding 3 months and find that I enjoy the non hardcore pace and just riding with no real intention of setting a destination so the big throaty bikes seem to fit the bill perfectly for me.

Is it this normal to want to change and rid my Bandit 650 so soon? I could trade my bandit in as the garage with the CB1300 offered me £2400 for the Bandit.

Some one slap me...

Rant over. (But please tell me your thoughts on the XJR and CB's :D Got to keep the temptation alive!)

What would the insurance be for you on the XJR? I believe the Bandit is group 11 and the XJR group 13.

That's what would put me off any bike is stupid insurance but as you get older and more years on your licence obviously the cost should come down.

Well my 650 bandit is £450 TPfT and the Xjr is around the £700 mark.

My Bandit is a 2007 plate (but a 2006 model) and the XJR's are around 2001 and upwards (based on what I can afford) but a 2002 Honda CBR 600 is over £1000! Oh and I should be moving into a house with a garage in 2 months and my Bandit insurance will come down by £125.

Shame these XJR's are so expensive lol. But you are right Buchanan, just a bit worried a 1300 beast will be to intimidating. ( I am not a wimp! Honest :) )

Friend had a Gsx 1400 with corbin seat. Had more grunt then 2 pigs shagging
Smooth, comfy, drinks fuel, wobble at over 100mph but was great bike. I like the cb's a lot
Much better made then yam (dare I say it)

I am going to wait out for a CB1300 in red and white or an XJR 1300SP in blue. Just hope the next 9 months go quick as there is something about the Bandit I am not liking, just can't figure it out....

My one concern with bikes like these is that they are pretty limiting, if you felt like upping the pace you could easily tie yourself in knots with the shedload of extra weight and limited handling ability. Having test ridden the CB1300, GSX1400 and ZRX1200 not so long back the only one I would consider is the Kawasaki as I felt it's engine and handling characteristics were less of an issue than with the others. The Honda did look to have better build quality but felt a lot heavier and didn't handle as well as the Kwak. The Suzuki was like a big sofa on wheels, sit back, put your feet up and watch the world go by, not my cup of tea but sounds like it could be yours. So I wouldn't neccesarily discount the offerings from the blue and green teams, good idea to test ride them all before you decide on looks alone.

my dad has an xjr1300sp in red. Heavy up top but I can manage it no problem. Only been around private roads on it (cbt only atm) but loved it. Shame he's selling as I want it :P
