Do these have to be analysed within a certain time period after actually producing the urine or does the 'quality' as it were last for a while without important stuff in it disappearing? (For purposes of medical testing for nasty dieases etc)

I only ask as i have a problem i need to produce a sample for, unfortunately i couldnt drive at the time and it was during a hectic period so i ended up producing the sample with the intention of dropping it up relatively soon but it never happened. So will i have to sort it all out again?

Cheers anyone that can help out....odd thread i know

If you still have the sample jar, why not just empty it and use it again for a fresh sample? Surely that's just common sense :p.

You should just take it to be handed in and if the sample has been in there too long, just get another pot + pop to the toilets to fill it.
What he said.

I’m sure it effects the quality of the sample as they like it to be a fresh as possible. Also, some say if you cant take it in immediately you should refrigerate it

You laugh but my friend currently working in a lab with urine samples tells me that a good 75% of blokes urine samples have more than the 'expected' levels of semen content...

I will ask my girlfriend and get back to you - she is a bio medical scientist and actually does the tests on these kind of samples - as said above also they do mangage to contain seimen but im not sure if this is just natural occurance

Only on OCUK.

Ok here is the answer from my girlfriend who is a bio medial scientist - once you have taken the sample it should be taken / handed to the doctor that day, if not it should be refigerated and handed in next day. In the labs they refrigerate urine samples for a maximum of 3days after that they are generally not used. If left unrefrigerated the "nasties" actually grow and would then give a false indication and could result in medication being given unecessarilly, i.e the original sample may have very few bacteria and be deemed as ok yet if it is left they will multiply and give a false reading. As for seimen in the urine this is quite normal..............there you have it :D
