There is no need to have a broad education at university, if you have interest in other things you can study them in your own time yourself, and attend some extra lectures if you so wish.
I MUCH prefer the UK style education system, with the keystage exams, YEARLY university exams (not termly like in USA) and so on.
If we can sort out the standard of teaching (so that it is as good as what private schools can offer) and standard of exams, we probably have the best "setup" education system in the world.
