US Open 2022

Really happy to see Andy progress to third round.

Imaging a footballer winning player of the season at 18, not displaying the same form the next season and everyone writing him or her off. She’s in her second year of what could be a 15 year career :o

Yeah I don't see why anyone who write her off entirely. It took Djokovic 3 full years after his first major to win his second. He had some 2R/3R exits in between those wins. Federer didn't win his first major until he was 22.

Raducanu is very young, she's developing, and she has more than enough time to come back.

Murray vs Berrettini's just started.

He's going to have to be at his very best to stand a chance of winning today.

2 sets down but he’s probably been the better player, hit the better shots, had the better of the longer rallies and he’s returned exceptionally well, just can’t serve for **** today. The sun is ruining him but you can’t win matches serving at 40%

Murray loses in four sets. Berrettini served phenomenally well and Murray didn’t, that was literally the only difference between the two tonight. If he and Lendl can work on that during the off season he’ll have a great chance of making the later stages of slams again.

Really have no idea who'll win this tournament, it's very open. Would love to see Alcaraz do it but I wouldn't begrudge any of those remaining a win.

We're in a strange phase, the GOATs are beginning their twilight years, Thiem slowly improving after recovery, Zverev injured, Medvedev, Tsitsipas and the likes pretty inconsistent.

The womens draw is as open as ever.

Just doesn’t feel the same without Roger and Rafa.

Roger sadly is basically finished at the top end, I hope i’m wrong and he has one last real swing at Wimbledon would be freaking amazing if he binks it then retires.

I can see the game having a massive drop for a few years, probably a good few years. Where the the #1 changes all the time as well.

Hopefully that won't be the case.

It's clear the generation after the big three weren't up to much but I've got more hope for the likes of Sinner and Alcaraz. They would've grown up in an era where they've only know the big three so they've got something to aspire to.

Anyway, Swiatek finally looks like she's someone who could dominate women's tennis for years to come. Took her a while to find her game after her first win but she's finally getting there.

Alcaraz vs Ruud tonight and a new number 1 tomorrow which both are vying for. Alcaraz has had the harder run and played two late night 5 setter in a row so I'm favouring Ruud but I'd love to see a teenager win the tournament so I'm rooting for Alcaraz.

I'm going to struggle in work tomorrow if this match drags on! Alcaraz is clearly the more talented player but Ruud is maximising his potential and has shown he's more than just a clay courter. He'll be far fresher so that should level the playing field. Having said that Alcaraz is young with a ridiculous improvement in his fitness levels compared to last year, he could prove himself Djokovic/Nadal-esque if he shows the ability to shrug off so many gruelling matches.

The Sinner/Alcaraz match was fantastic, hopefully a glimpse of what's to come in the coming years.

Depends on what you’re classing as a generation but there’s been more than 1 generation after them that haven’t been up to much.
Rafa and Novak will still be favourites for the next 4 slams, if they play.
