US Open Tennis 2012

6-4, 6-4, 6-2...2 hours...yup Murray was back on form last night hammering Raonic in straight sets, much better last night...roll on Cilic and we're no doubt going to get a Murray vs Federer semi final.

You would expect Cilic to be a tougher test though.

On Robson, it will be interesting to see how she finishes the year after her good performances in this tourny.

Out of the two...probably not, Raonic is a very dangerous player...Cilic has beaten Murray once in 8 meetings I believe and Murray again beat him on the way to the Wimbledon final!

Expecting an easier tie for him and another straight sets victory to set up that semifinal against Fed.

Due to rescheduling, Murray vs Cilic has been moved to a different court and has started earlier than planned.

Cilic is a set and 2-0 up.

Bad vibes from Murray here so far ...

For me, if he does not win this tie-break he will lose the match. His temperament seems pretty fragile at the moment - something I thought he had got a handle on

Murray has really turned it on...playing some great tennis! Interesting Murray mentioned the pace on this court being faster than Ashe...taking advantage of it now...

2-1 up now and a break up in the 4th! Should see it out easily from here!

Cilic has completely lost it now. Should only be a matter of time, and this could be a very short set as it stands.

[Edit] Double break complete.

Fancy Federer to win in 4 sets. There's absolutely no pressure on him to win having lost to Murray at the Olympics and having a million slams already so he can just relax and play his normal game. Djokovic to win overall though.

Berdych takes the second set after a little wobble at the end. I still think Federer will win though, he's been here before.

[Edit] Berdych breaks in the third - surely he can't actually win?

So easy that last set. Federer will be a whole new kettle of fish mind, there will be no room for a repeat of the first set.

I know...he managed to turn himself into Berdych...now that IS impressive :D

Would appear that walkover he had didn't do him any good, if anything it's broken his rythym...great chance for Andy to reach the final now!

Must say that result's a shock. Certainly won't be an easy game for Murray, think Berdych has the better H2H record and he beat him in straights sets at the French a few years ago.

Hopefully we'll see a repeat performance of the Olympic bronze medal game and Del Potro can do Djokovic. Will open the tournament right up then.

Remember Berdych is number 6 seed or something, so he isnt exactly a journeyman - if anything I would have prefered AM to come up against Fed after the straight sets victory in the Olympics final (not to mention other numerous victories -and losses admittedly - over Fed in the last few years)

Clay is AM's least favourite surface I believe, but it will still be a hard match undoubtedly

Yes I understand Berdych is a highly ranked player in his own right but head to head aside I wouldn't expect Murray to lose against him on Friday/Saturday whenever I will be played.

In terms of preference I would have much preferred Andy to play against Berdych over Federer...Olympic result aside it was on a different surface and Fed is pretty much the greatest hard court player ever (at the very least indoors).

Quarter finals on the other side have an interesting look to them, Del Porto will need to have his serve firing to take out Djokovic I think.

Also as for scheduling the Men's final is on Sunday again this year but it would be refreshing to see Andy be the one who gets the extra day rest for a change compared to the previous slams where he hasn't had this luxury. US Open and Aus I believe this has happened in. (Of course if Murray plays on Friday and the other semi on Saturday or goes over night to finish on the Saturday).
