USB 3.0 Performance

Does this look about right ? The 4k r/w are shockingly poor. Granted it's only a 5400rpm 2.5" drive but - really? - Speeds shouldn't be that poor unless of course it's a limitation of USB3 ?

Even if you change to eSATA, you're still limited by the 5400 rpm speed, a 7200 rpm drive will offer better transfer speeds.
 
The thing is that performance shouldn't tail off like that. Something is just not quite right I'll do some more tests and report back but there's definitely a bottleneck during small file transfers
 
Small file transfer = random accesses which mechanical disks are really bad at. Hence the performance tails off. There's nothing on that chart which suggests a problem, in fact 90+MB/s at the top end is very good for a 2.5" HDD.
