Just realised the back of my tower, the panel has some red usb ports... are these usb 3?? if so, what benefit is there to using these ports? are they much quicker?

Have a look in the mobo manual. Though USB3 is usually blue.
Red could be one of the +5v even when pc turned off quick charge things.

No.

USB 3.0 ports are blue.

They're just red coloured USB 2.0 ports.
really dumb question, but my motherboard has a couple of blue USB slots (the inner plastic bit is blue, outer is not painted). i dont think it should come with USB3, but is it possible that it does (motherboard in sig)

*edit*
they're blue in the 4th pic on overclockers too:

There is a version of that motherboard with USB 3.0 - M4A88T-M/USB3.

They probably use the same basic board for both versions to save on costs but only one has a USB 3.0 controller chip.

Just been looking through the manual to see if there is any explanation but cant see anything.

Were some of these boards designed before USB 3 become mainstream.
