Decided the best place for this question was here.

Do any of you mac users charge via Usb-c?
Via a bank or wall socket?
Is it even a realistic option for a laptop/tablet?

I use a surface book 2 but am looking at on the road charging solutions. Seeing as this has been a mac feature for a while and the market is bigger was hoping for some advice.

I gather the apple 87w wall charger is a good shout.
And the ravpower 26k mAh 30W PD power bank may work

I am interested as well. I want to be able to fast charge my iPhone 8, but I’m not not prepared to pay £74 to Apple for the privilege. Are there cheaper options?

Looks ideal if safe.

Can charge my s7 (qc2) and surface for anything other than gaming! Good spot. Do you have it?

Anything that supports USB Power Delivery is a must. In the case of the cable, Apple are currently the ONLY supplier of Lightning to USB C cables that support PD - likely due to licensing and money making tactics.

It's 60W max on USB C, so it wouldn't be any good for a 15 inch model :/

My surface (for example) won't use its full 100W loading 95pc of the time.
So this would be fine for my case. I'm guessing same goes for macs.
It's rare that you'd need full power delivery for extended periods
Even if I gamed for an 3 hours the battery wouldn't discharge with 60W delivery

The thing is, I only really have it plugged in when I'm using power hungry applications, like Final Cut Pro, or Visual Studio. So power draw can exceed 60W for me quite often

Agreed.
makes sense. bought mine for games/3d printing/photography. so slightly less than your use case. else i will just lug around the normal power brick

Yes, I wasted loads of money on cheap USB C to Lightning cables and they were all crap. Apple official is only that worked

Are there any decent reviews of this confirming it is indeed safe and does charge the 13"macbook correctly? Been looking for something like this for ages.

Further info seems to be limited.

I only ever buy Anker chargers if I'm not buying name brand (Apple, Samsung, that sort of thing). Power supply / charger design is incredibly stringent, and if companies cut any corners you can end up either ruining your equipment, or even starting a fire.

Even then Anker have been known to produce dodgy charging equipment or was that Belkin. Either way a big name brand was found wanting in the safety/power delivery of the product.

Using the Anker USB 60w charger with 5 USB ports including one USB-C with PD up to 60w, grabbed it before Christmas for the Switch, was £27, it's about £35 now, but comes down to £30 a lot. I've been using various Anker products for many years now, and they are excellent quality, and should you have any issues their customer service is exemplary. I have battery banks (4 of them), three multi-way USB chargers, some headphones, and Bluetooth speaker, and loads of cables etc. I always look there first these days, they have some crazy stuff on their website.

Also, who knows one day Apple might actually put USB-C on the majority of devices they sell, rather than the minority, and reduce electrical waste pollution.... Oh wait, no they won't then they'd lose money since they couldn't bleed people dry for 'exclusive' cables like USB-C to Lightning
