Is it possible to wire a device directly to a USB 2.0 header port?

I have an unused USB 2.0 header on my motherboard and want to wire up an xbox wireless receiver permanently inside the case. I know I could just get a header adapter and use that, but it'd be a lot neater if I could just wire it directly with as little excess cable as possible.

Thanks!

You can buy a cheap solid adapter that doesn't have any cable. OcUK doesn't see them but a quick search in the obvious places will find one.

Cool, that's kinda plan B as it would still mean cutting the cable on the receiver down as it's pretty long.

Looking at wiring diagrams for USB 2.0 and the header connection, it looks like it will be pretty straight forward to do. I could even splice off a 2nd USB port if needed pretty easily :D
