USB Cable question

Hi guys does anyone know if there is a maximum length a usb cable can be or can you make one any length you need. Thanks

Well how long do you need? You can get 10m repeater extension cables.

well 10 Mtrs would be enough. At work our pc is in the office which is a steel container and the wireless router is in another building, also there is no way of running a lan cable due to vehicular traffic so we need to put the wireless dongle on the roof of the container but need to get it closer to the router.
So can you tell me where these cables are available from. Thankyou.

The max length cable you can have is 5m according to:

http://www.usb.org/about/faq/ans5

You can join them together using a hub though, apparently, up to around 30m. So get a 5m usb cable, then a hub, then another 5m cable. I've never tried it though.

Id imagine the cable current will run out anything over 5/10 meters.
