My neighbour was complaining that his PC constantly wanted to check the disk almost every time he wanted to boot into windows. At first l thought it was him visiting dubious sites or that the disk is going bad.
I run Western Digital's Lifeguard Tools(he has a new Western Digital Blue HDD) and tested the HDD twice with an extended test, the second time after writing zeros or ones to the drive. Before running the tests l also changed the SATA cable because it looked twisted. Both test told me that the drive is good and that there are no bad sectors.
I rebooted numerous times and not once Windows asked me to perform a check disk. As soon as l gave the PC back to my neighbour he told me that the same thing(Windows was asking to check the disk) was happening. The only thing that he did was to connect the dongle to his PC and install the drivers through the CD.
I find it weird that a USB dongle would cause Windows to check for disk errors. Anyone that had any similar experience?
