USB Device Peripheral Tester?

Anyone known a faulty plug socket/cube extension socket (those cube extensions allowing 2 or 3 plugs into one socket) to destroy motherboards?

Replaced a motherboard twice in a desktop PC last week and even a processor as the PC wouldnt boot without that replaced the second time. Both times the customer has taken the PC back it fails to boot for him (no lights on the mobo or fans spin at all).

Customer got power lights on a USB device plugged in for a few seconds then completely dead again (whole system).

Went to the guys property the second time and tried jumping using the front panel connectors on the board, absolutely nothing. Tried my power supply, installed the RAM, my own kettle lead and nothing again. Checked the case, all stand offs fitted correctly so highly doubt the case is shorting it.

Did test myself for 3 hours before it went back out the second time. Extremely strange, it's as if something is frying the motherboard as soon as he gets it back.

Can you get a tester to test USB peripherals which may be frying the motherboards?

Do you know what USB devices the user is plugging in?

I don't think I've ever experienced such an issue, it is normally something else which has gone faulty such as an expansion card or even the PSU.

I'm not aware of any such device to test the power draw, but I believe you can view power usage for devices using: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

Extremely confusing.

PSU has been replaced with a Coolermaster PSU by the user when he first experienced the powering on issue.

The GPU has actually been upgraded as well at the same time as replacing the motherboard and CPU.

Waiting to hear back on the USB devices.
