Hi all,

I have noticed recently that, while gaming my USB randomly drops out and back in. Has anyone experienced such a thing? Game also locks up for a second or so when this happens, any help appreciated.
I'm running a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DSR3 with 4GB RAM and XP Pro. It's a C2D 6300@3Ghz.
Seems table otherwise...Orthos for 6 hrs stable.

Regards,

Whammer

Cant say thats ever happed to me. Perhaps the voltage being supplied to your USB device is unstable?

Does everything drop out?
Is it specific to a certain set of USB ports?
Are they on-board ports or on header cables (thinking cable might be slightly damaged or be coming loose).
Do you have a powered USB hub that you could test with?

I've got the same mobo and RAM setup but I don't expereince anything like that no. ih8modem's advice about the USB header cables coming loose seemslike a good thing to check.

Odd that it's only happening during gaming though

Gaming is probably the time the most voltage is being pumped through the ports, as there is constant and sustained inputs to the devices. Unsure what devices are being used, but in my case for example all my devices are USB

I have Saitek X52 throttle + stick , Logitech G15 keyboard , Logitech G7 mouse , CH products MFP , CH rudder pedals. Never had a dropout on any of them, and I play FPS like BF2 often enough.

whammer, try moving each device to a seperate USB controller. Also check your board for spare header pins, and invest in some spare usb brackets. I got some 4 port brackets (2 x 2 port on a single bracket) for 1.47 each about a week ago, and that included postage! (Unfortunately from a competitor so I cant tell you where I got them)

I get the same thing, my keyboard restarts itself while playing games due to a random drop, so far unsolved, tried different ports to no avail... G15 by the way, mouse stays fine, pretty weird and inexplicable, not all that frequent either
