I currently own an old Kingston DataTraveler SE9, but it's USB 2 and very slow. I need to upgrade, but to which one? I want speed, so looking at USB 3 drives.

Has anyone used the new DataTraveler drives?

I'm looking at these as they're small, metal, and have an eyelet. It'll be kept on my keys.

I recently got 2x 64GB versions of those, from OCUK, it's amazing that you can get so much storage on such a small device.
I used one to back up the OS on my daughters laptop before upgrading to SSD, worked a treat.

SanDisk SDCZ43-016G-G46 Ultra Fit USB Flash Drive USB 3.0 up to 130 MB/s - 16 GB

The Kingston Datatraveler G4's are very good - I use the 64GB and 128GB ones at work for Daily offsite backups, decent write speeds

It's the speed of the memory that's important, not the interface. You can have a USB 3 drive which is considerably slower than a USB 2 one. The now-aging USB 2.0 standard can theoretically transfer data at a very high 480 megabits per second (mbps), or 60 megabytes per second (MBps). The newer USB 3.0, which can handle up to 5gbps (640MBps)—over ten times as fast as the 2.0 maximum. Your pendrive isn't going to be as fast.

Buying a USB 3 pendrive does not mean it's faster than USB 2 is my point.

Very true, there's still a lot of absolutely pathetic USB 3.0 pendrives out there that barely keep up with a slow USB 2.0 drive!

After much research I opted for the SanDisk 32GB extreme. I picked it up for a little over 20 quid and it's been rock solid for the last couple of years. I actually run "Windows 8.1 to go" on it which enables me to boot up to my version of Windows on pretty much any device.

The 32GB version I own has up to 245 MB/s Read and 100 MB/s Write speeds and it's now a bargain for less than £20!
