USB Flash Drives - No Media

For the second time in about 3 weeks I've got another USB flash drive that I can see in disk management but it says no media and there are no options to format it or anything. I did some looking around and this seems to suggest that the drive has died. One of the drives was a corsair one which I returned under warranty and I received the replacement yesterday. The other drive is a bog standard one I got from work which went the same way today.

Now is this just bad luck and coincidence or do I have a problem with my USB ports? They were mainly plugged into the front ones on my case. Scared to put my new one in now in case that goes belly up. Anyone else had this happen before?

usb2 or 3? and what motherboard?

Asus Maximus V Gene and USB 2 drives. First time I've ever had a problem with a flash drive and now 2 in less than a month.

I might be able to use this to my advantage though and tell my wife I need to upgrade to Z97

I havnt used corsair,only a few Kingston data travellers and a pny

them sending you a replacement probably meant it was faulty or died,just one of those things I guess

Probably, just seems a bit weird to have 2 die so close together. Can't fault the service from Corsair though.
