Hey guys, recently ive got a very strange issue, up until today my usb flash drives have been working perfectely fine, but now they wont even show up.
In device manager they have the correct name but with a yellow ! - along with the error code 28 and mentioning no compatible drivers.

Ive never needed drivers before and what makes it even more strange is the fact that out of the 7 i have, 5 dont work, but 2 do work and they are all Kingston DT111 USB3 32gb.
Even more strange is the fact that all 7 work on the laptop with no issues just my main PC 5 refuse with the above errors.

Ive tried updating chipset drivers, uninstalling, disabling, registry tweaks (google found) trying to change the drive letters but no dice.

This happens on front and rear usb ports, both 2.0 and 3.0.
Anyone ever encountered this before? Dont want to format if i can help it, thats a lot of stuff to be backing up.

Could try running the system file checker to see if that finds any issues which it will then repair. You need to open an Admin command prompt, then type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

Hmm done that and it came back that it found some corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them, and refered me to a log, which is a wall of text and gibberish to me, now stuck but it seems a fresh install is probably the way to go :( :(

try it again in safe mode, might be files it cannot access while normal windows is running

safe mode says the exact same thing :( I tried to add the drivers manually in device manager with the update driver in properties, and pointed it to the windows C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository to grab the correct drivers, it does this but then complains that the driver is not signed and wont install....its a windows driver how can it not be signed lol - and further to that why do 2 work and 5 dont, but all 7 work on a different computer, the more i dig into this the more im confused lol

Error message when pointing it towards the filerepository in the windows directory is - "The Third-Party INF does not contain digital signature information." but how is that the case when its a windows driver and works for some and not others?
