I am looking to get an external hard drive to plug into the back of a EEEBox for storage.

As its going to be in the front room, I am hoping to find something that has no fans to keep the noise down when listening to music etc through it.

Now, would it be better to buy the 'readymades' like MyBook or buy an enclosure and then a drive to go in it?

Its been a very long time since I have looked into these things so any advice appreciated, especially if I go the enclosure and drive route as I wouldn't mind advice on the best drives to use.

Cheers

Have a look at the Freecom aluminium drives, I have a 500gb one and its very good. The aluminium cases dissapates heat from the hard drive and although it gets a little warm its pretty much silent as there are no fans.
