USB keyboard/mouse not working

Had some problems yesterday with AMD Catalyst drivers messing up and not installing even when running the driver sweeper (Windows 7 64), so gave up in the end and decided to do a reinstall.

Using the UEFI, the mouse and keyboard are working fine, but soon as I got to the Windows setup both appeared to power themselves off! So... I thought ok, have a PS/2 keyboard- so carried on and installed Windows in the hope that once loaded they would spring into life.... wrong!

Never had this problem before when I installed Windows previously with the same hardware.

Motherboard is an Asus p8p67 Pro, mouse & keyboard attached directly to the motherboard at the back.

Anyone have any ideas?

their not plugged into usb3 ports by any chance are they?

Haha, I should have said, no- there are no rear USB3 ports on this particular motherboards- theres only a header in the middle of the motherboard. - I realise that the USB3 has separate drivers.

But thanks for replying though- I'm at a complete loss at the moment, normally good with these things- its amazing how difficult it is to use Windows without a mouse! I'm beginning to think that perhaps theres something wrong with the Windows image I'm using, although it did appear to install okay with no errors.

Hmmm, just been reading up, seems there are USB3.0 ports at the back of the motherboard, so this could indeed be the issue! Silly me, I probably switched the cables around previously- will check later to see if thats the case.
