Why is USB Keyboard Support disabled as default in the bios?

I just currently updated my bios and now I need to borrow a PS2 Keyboard to enable USB support in the bios.

Oh thats good news as I'm still using my 3 year old board and I can't find a PS2 keyboard anywhere in my house..

so I'll have to borrow/buy one

Do you think if I reset the CMOS it might enable it?

I'm 99.9% sure that the USB Keyboard BIOS setting only applies for use in the bios and dos etc, a USB keyboard should work fine in windows regardless of what that setting is set to in the BIOS. You should be fine.

Do you not have an adpater? They used to be given out a lot.
I am surprised you cannot use the KB mind, never ever seen that with a USB keyboard. Its usually only for legacy support in DOS

is it an abit mb?

Gigabyte GA-X38-DS4 Intel X38

My cousin gave me a PS2/ Keyboard and I got it working as I enabled usb 2.0 in the bios which was disabled with default.

(Hopefully new Motherboards sort this problem.)
