Hardly ever post things in other sections apart from GD.

I am currently with virgin broadband (sucks i know) and i have a modem which they sent. It is quite **** really, has a socket for the phone line and it has a USB wire coming out of it to connect to the computer... nothing else.

I have software on the computer and need to dial up every time i need to go on the net (very annoying). Right now comes the hard bit. I am trying to connect this modem to my wireless router (belkin) and obviously i cant (no usb port). I cant directly plug the phone line in to the router (or can i?) as i need the software on the computer to dial in so to speak. I dont think a usb to ethernet converter will work as i need the software.

Any one else had this problem and is it easy to fix?

PS - I HATE VIRGIN

If the Belkin router has a socket that takes the phone plug then that should be all you need. You can't use it with the existing USB modem so stop trying. You won't need the dialling software as you'll configure the router with your ID & password and the connection will be permanently active.

However, Belkin make some of the poorest networking products so we'll expect to see you back in the near future, asking what to buy next. ;)
