Anybody ever had this problem? it is happening at random times in games and in windows, the most annoying thing. Lasts for usually 1-3 seconds

I have the logitech MX510 which i have had for quite a while now.. though i wouldnt have thought this could be a mouse problem. Could it be a defective USB slot on the motherboard?

Nope, its most likely to be a break in the cable somewhere.

I had this on my 5 year old Microsoft mouse, so found a site where someone had the same problem and repaired it.

It has worked fine since.

just to confirm i had exactly the same problem with my MX518, was a break in the cable also. Got a Razor deathadder and never had the problem again.

The cables tend to break at the point where they enter the mouse body, if you can solder, its normally fairly easy to strip down the mouse, cut the cable back a few inches, and resolder it.

Only problem is that a lot of mice put the screws under the smooth pads, so the mouse doesnt always glide quite as well after you put it back together.
