USB - NAS Adapter?

Hi guys, I'm just wondering, has anyone every used these? I want to upgrade my current NAS capacity(400GB IDE).

I found an adapter for about £24 and am thinking of getting a regular external drive to use with it so it basically becomes a NAS.

Is it likely to be crap? Here are some specs of the one I found:

NAS USB

Couldn't you just install the OS Freenas to a regular USB Memory stick (youtube "freenas" for loads of tutorials). The whole OS is less than half a gig and has a fully featured web management page.

Sorry I don't quite understand your reply. Are you saying I should build my own box, install freenas on it?
