Something is not right and i am not sure how to fix the problem
For example i am transfering 25GB of photographs from my Kingston 256 USB C 3.0 to my 28.8 USB 3.0 and it use to take about 20 mins max may be less , now they are taking over 3 hrs ? why is this happening i don`t understand it never use to take this long
Even try to transfer less for example 15GB and its still taking hrs

Done scans on my laptop and USB`s no errors found
Is it a windows problem

How do i fix the problem ? any ideas

It could be various issues.

As an example, my 4TB m.2 NVMe drive transferring across at 10gbe network, will happily go at 4GB/s until it reaches the saturation point where the DRAM cache is full (can't remember exact numbers anymore but it was something like every GB of DRAM cache can handle 10GB odd of data at full speeds, once you go over this it slows down when that capacity is used up) and it slows down to much slower speeds.

If you can, copy everything off of both USB drives, then format them, and then try to see if the drives are still slow then? If so, it might be some form of degredation if you've been doing that a lot, as most typical USB drives don't have the same wear control as on the normal flash/SSD drives.

Its defo strange just to copy 147 files total 645MB now takes 45 mins
I purchased USB`s in 2024

How many times have you performed this transfer over the total life of the usb drive? As far as I know they're just like ssds in that they have a life in terms of the amount of cumulative data written to them, and as it's not a huge one it's more likely have a shorter life.

:edit: I love your name by the way.

I was thinking it could have been a USB drivers issue
I have 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports , very odd or maybe its the USB`s being old

Using 28GB 3.1 USB transferring 10GB takes 20 mins which i am fine with that
Using 16GB 2.0 USB transferring 10GB takes forever like more then a day but it never use to be that long so not sure

Pls give us a rough indication of just how old the slow boi is and how many times its performed the transfer you mention. It tickles my brain badly not knowing I'm afraid :p
