Earlier on today I was backing up someones laptop onto my USB stick when about half way through copying the 900mb folder it stopped and said there was an error, I clicked ok and to my horror all of my files were gone.

After about an hour later of trying it on other PCs and trying Recuva I bit the bullet and decided to format the drive and start over.

I've now decided I wish I didn't format the stick and I'm asking for your suggestions to which software to use (Free) in the attempt to get files back from my freshly formatted USB stick.
Recuva only found files which were copied from the 900mb folder being backed up.

Please help :(

Thanks for the replies.
I'll remember the ones mentioned in case I need to recover files in the future. I've started with the drive from a fresh now, but I'll make sure I now back up drives I consider not that important :)

I didn't think Recovery software would work on a flash drive...

Is it really possible to recover data on a flash drive that's been deleted or formated ???

Yep, should work as long as the software can read the drive.

Often formatting just marks sectors to be overwritten on next write and therefore does not acctually format a drive.

GetDataBack has got me out of trouble a few times.

Bump for the dayshift.
As a follow up to this thread, seeing as the op has been sorted, no need for a new thread......HELP.

1 USB flash drive 1 is not recognised by windows.

2 USB light on flash drive 2 flashes but does not present as a drive.

3 formatted a dvd as a usb drive and then copied to dvd. Can't now see dvd.

Any and all help for these three probs really appreciated.
Thanks if you can help.

This ain't GD so no **** takers.

As far as i know you're stuffed. If you can't read the usb drive then there's nothing you can do.
