That doesn't work at all, but if you can can get a perfect mould of someone's finger using some sort of ballistics gel you can use that. Though are you really going to sit there while someone clones your finger or thumb?Yea but I saw on csi you can just copy a fingerprint with a peice of sellotape off a glass so :/

You can lift it but you can't use it to scan anything. You can lift prints with tape, but CSI use a different sticky thing. Also I doubt what you lift would work in these fingerprint things.

Hmm someone at Uni has it on his HP laptop. I think that he thinks he looks so cool swiping his finger on the side of the screen and logging in.Father-in-Law has it on his laptop- uses it instead of typing in username/password![]()

I wonder if sellotape over the sensor would bork it?I can imagine they are useful but it's a bit gimmicky - a decent password / encryption method is better just in case the fingerprint scanner got broken!

We have it on our HP systems, the clients are impressed![]()

While if something damages the fingerprint reader, thats all your data gone.
Thats exactly why you get the choice of entering your password instead.
