USB stick not working in any port.

Board is P8Z68 pro gen 3

Stick is Sandisk cruzer edge 32GB

So that's basically it. It just doesn't seem to register in any of the USB ports on my board, front or back. It used to when I first had it, but now, nothing. I bought it for the car, to play MP3's on, and my Fiesta reads it no problem but this board for some reason, won't.

Other USB devices work fine, keyboard, mouse, etc. Just this annyoying little thing wont work.

does it list in diskpart?

open command prompt > type diskpart > type rescan > type lis dis

Does is show it in there?

command prompt says rescan is not a valid command.

Also, when I leave the stick in while waiting for it to register, then click on my computer, it the whole rig freezes up till I pull it out.

ah sorry... read again, ammended my instructions

is it just USB sticks that don't recognize in your pc? any other USB connecting items you have to test?

try in another machine.

Does it show in Disk Management? Could be that the drive letter it's trying to use it allocated to another disk?

diskpart says its not there. I just tried it in my laptop, and that reads it fine.

Okay, is there anything on it that you need? if not then do the following on the laptop:

In diskpart:

type lis dis (find out the disk number)
type sel dis <insert disk number>
type clean
type cre par pri
type format quick

This will reinitialize the USB stick and stick it in the computer

No idea... I would try it, then put it back in the car, see if it causes the same issue.
