USB Stick problems

Hi all,

I have a 4GB USB stick which is formatted FAT32. I have some AVI files which I want to put onto my Macbook from my MiniMac, but whenever I copy them to the USB stick and try it on my Macbook you cannot read the file?!

I have tried it again and again but still the samething, I have managed to get it done once and thats it. Even if i copy a file over and try and open it, it wont open!

any ideas please?

ah Ive sorted it now, formatted the stick to HFS+ and works spot on

strange, mac os x normally supports all fat file systems

be aware though, if you want to use that usb stick Windows it will not be able to read as it is formatted to HFS+

How large were those .avi files? FAT32 is limited to files smaller than 2 GiB. That might have been the problem.

the files were around 600mb each

thanks Will, I have just found that out after uninstalling Macdrive lol

I reformatted the stick with windows and is working fine now on my MacMini and Macbook Pro. bloody weird!
