Got a nice message from my lovely GF that she did not remove my USB stick from my jeans before she put my jeans in the washing machine

So I now have a very clean USB stick :p but what to do

Can I damage the computer/USB port by trying the USB stick or is it safe to try?

I suggest giving it a couple of days 2 dry first.

Have you got an airing cupboard where you can leave it for a couple of days?

As it is very warm today I asked my GF to lay the stick outside to dry :p

I am just gutted that out of all the USB sticks we have it happens to be a new 8GB one which is logical as that is the one I use.

Kids found a wet bent 1gig stick in street, i dried it out & its fine, but for how long i dont know.

USB sticks always works after a wash for me.

Water itself wont destroy your USB stick, which is basically just a PCB, only if its actually got a current going through it will water short the circuit.

Just leave it a day or so to ensure all moisture has evaporated and it will work.

Ive done it with an ipod and a portable radio, the ipod needed drying out. The portable radio was a small sony one and actually came out of the washine machine soaked through and still playing! Dried both and they worked fine. You may be best off opening it up and giving it a blow dry with compressed air.

I've done it with my phone lol

Dropped it in a full cup off coffee. Slightly different though. The battery was charged and wouldn't turn on to start off with. Once it tried out it was fine :)
