got a problem which I have not fully looked at until this evening but perhaps someone can give me some advice.

I have done a load of documents on WORD (2002) on my home pc running XP Pro and SP2 and saved them to my USB stick.

Given them to a work collegue and he has put them on his laptop but he can print and view them but cannot edit them ?

He is using WORD as well (think he said 2003) ?

Why would this be and what would I need to do to enable him tio be able to highlight and generally edit the documents.

Never come accross this before.

thanks

I'm guessing he gets a message about the file being read only?

Just get him to go File > Save As and save it to his hard drive. Should then be editable.

Will be some permission problem

this is when he has saved them already on to his computer.

No password or anything like that involved, I have not seen it on his laptop (will do tonight) it may just be him being a donkey of course!

he just said he can print but when he goes to highlight / change anything whenever he clicks it with his mouse, everything is highligted immediatley ?

As though it was a picture and you have highlighted it.

it is odd, maybe when i look tonight it will become obvious
