Hi all,

Odd one here...

I have a USB WiFi stick plugged into a USB 2 port and works perfectly but if I plug in a USB 3 device (Into the USB 3 port) in this scenario, it's a memory card reader, the WiFi adapter gets disconnected? If I take it out and put it back in, it reconnects but only for a short time? Also, related issue, sometimes when I insert the card reader into the USB 3 port it doesn't even detect it and I need to restart my PC? The hub itself is located on top of my case, consisting 2 x USB 2 ports and 1 x USB 3 ports, if I have the memory card reader and WiFi adapter in both the USB 2 ports, they both work perfectly?

Sorry for the long post but I'm stumped!

Suggestions?

Cheers :)

Since USB 3 and USB 2 have different power requirements, it could be something to do with that.

Is that hub powered?
Non-powered hubs often don't have power output for many devices.

And have to wonder what kind of hub has different version USBs...

I have this issue with one of my rigs - Asus Maximus Formula VI z87... and seems to be a constant problem no matter what i do, including driver updates and BIOS updates, removing the power management from device manager.

Shouldn't be power issue in my scenario.. i have a pwoer meter connected to my rig and pulls no more than 400w (usiung a 760w PSU), so there shouldn't be any constraints when powering ~10 drives

I know USB3 has a device limit of something like 200 devices which is far from what i have connected, but i have trouble connecting ~10 USB3 devices either direct or through a powered hub ( 1x usb3 powers hub with 8 usb3 external powered HDD). I get the same issue regardless of whether the usb3 device is connected into a usb2.0 port.

Other issues such as if i have an external usb hub connected as well as my headset which is usb powered, i have to disconnect the hub and reboot the computer before my headset mic is detected, else the mic will not work if the hub is still attached

I also remember people had similar issues but related to the Corsair Commander Pro, in what it would work more consistent if you connected directly to an internal usb header, to which i have yet to try (too lazy to open my rig)
