Hi guys,

Having trouble with my USB setup on my SN41G2 shuttle, it is fully USB 2, but I’m having hassles, sometimes I get a message when I plug in my pen drive saying “this drive can perform faster” which leads me to believe it’s running on USB1 ?

The main issue is though, when I plug my phone or more importantly my IPOD photo, it comes up with drive not recognised. I have tried reinstalling the NVIDIA neforce2 drivers, but still no joy, I have a PCI USB2 card in the back of my shuttles, and this seems to work sometimes. These issues are not always present but lately they seem worse.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas? Do I need another driver?

I'm having that exact problem with my SN95G5, every time i plug in my skype phone it tells me this device can run faster if i plug it into a USB 2.0 slot.

I found that its occuring because the usb driver its using is usbhub.sys, when it should be the usbhub20.sys driver that came with service pack 1 of XP, it should be located in the C:\\windows\system32\drivers folder.

However i dont seem to have that driver, and my attempts to find a shuttle version on the net have proved rather difficult as i can't find one for the FN95 mainboard. I had even more fun when i manually updated the driver (which you have to do, usb 2.0 doesn't install automatically) in the device manager, it does a search of my system and says its using the driver usbhub20 in system32\drivers, which i swear isn't in there, not even hidden, even then the message that i dont have usb 2.0 still comes up

So after all that i've not found how to solve it, only thing i can advise is to go into device manager and update the usb drivers and pray you have the usbhub20.sys file there. Oh and if you find any other solution i'd be so so grateful :D

Sorry to hear of your troubles mate, it’s a right royal pain! I have not had this issue before and everything used to work fine, so I guess something has ‘knocked the driver out’ I thinking of backing up everything on my USB drive and formatting and starting over installing win XPSP2 straight on, I reckon this may be my best bet. As I know when I last done a clean install I had no issues at all. I don’t believe it has packed up.

I also have a USB2 PCI card and that has issues, I have tried removing the card and drivers but no joy either way.

as long as you have SP1 or SP2 installed all you have to do is go to device manager (right click my computer - properties - hardware tab), go down to the USB stuff and reinstall the driver (i think it was) or if theres any yellow exclamation marks, install the drivers for them and it SHOULD install the USB 2 drivers.

this has happened everytime i format on both my shuttles ive had

if still nothing then check that USB is enabled in the bios as you can limit it to usb 1.1 :)

iv got this problem on my sn95 aswell, its a right bugger! i cant even install sp2 either because my mates got my xp disc WITH my key so im using a dirty warez'd one :(!

still havoing trouble, any large powered devices, like usb2 hard drives or ipods, just don't work!

usb1.1 and usb2.0 run on same voltage dont they? cant see the drivers affecting how much power is going to a device:s

i found a USB2 driver on google, and for now it seems to have fixed the issue! so fingers and balls crossed!

any chance you could drop me the link, i'm still having issues.

e-mail in trust :D

lol oh well not to worry, i'm going to be re-formatting anyway, from what i've worked out, it happens when a bios update is performed after SP2 is installed. So i figure a reformat will fix it right off.

Cheers anyway
