Should I make use of my spare USB type C port at the rear of my pc on the motherboard ? (Windows 10).

I was wanting a HUB that can get the best 'Type C' speeds going to the usb 3.0/3.1 hub which has to have maybe at least 4 x usb 3.0/3.1 ports and backward compatible with usb 2 , thing is though, have you seen the stupid little 10 inch cable or whatever the size is that seem to be the only things available on Type c to 3.0/3.1 hubs ?

Its crazy man , for starters, my pc sits away on the corner of the desk/table, I am approx 5ft from the rear of the pc when I am sitting at the pc.

I need or rather want the actual hub to sit just next to my keyboard infront of me, ideally with a longer cable going from the hub under the table and then up through a hole custom drilled for cabling infront of the keyboard for such things as a hub etc.

There are a few things on the market online but I am so mixed up and confused with hubs, cables, adapters etc as you may know about I hope someone does ?

Can someone please help me and suggest some things please ? ;)

Thanks guys.

P.s, or am I just better to get a usb 3 hub with longer cable and forget the faster and better Type C port altogether for maybe a couple of years ? seems a bit of a waste though, hmmm :( , I dont know man

Could you not get a longer cable that connects to the hub?

Either way i wouldn't worry to much... a USB3.0 should be good enough at the moment. Might be best to wait for USB C devices to get more common and accessories to drop in price.

;) thanks mate.

See, I don't know, can I get a longer extension type cable for the Type C connection or does that basically slow it down to USB 3.0/3.1 speeds anyway ?

So many cables and hubs and everything available on the internet its like trying to pick needles out of haystacks man :(

My board has these connectors if it helps any

Intel® Z170 chipset :
6 x USB 3.0 port(s) (4 at back panel, blue, 2 at mid-board)
Intel® USB 3.1 controller :
1 x USB 3.1 port(s) (1 at back panel, black, Type-C)
Intel® USB 3.1 controller :
1 x USB 3.1 port(s) (1 at back panel, red, Type-A)

i meant to update this post ages ago and I forgot, in the end I got this HUB and its works a treat to be honest >>>>

USB 3.0 Hub with 7 Ports 1m Cable Cable with PSU from TP-LINK (Manufacturer code: UH700)

Its just a pity I wasnt able to get something suitable to use the USB Type C port or the USB 3.1 port (Red colour) as these have more speed and better charging
capabilty etc, but hey, its what it is and thats that :)
