USB's on my monitor

My AOC G2460PF uses a HDMI input, and has 5 usb ports, could any of these be used for a webcam, or does it have to plugged into the PC? Thanks.

Yes, but you'll need to run the USB data cable from the monitor to the PC.

Once you connect the cable from the monitor to the PC, all the ports on the monitor will become like the normal usb ports on your pc.

I don't think the HDMI will carry a USB signal. Or do you mean a USB cable?

Yes I meant the USB cable, one should come with the monitor.

Thanks for the speedy replies folks. The reason I asked, I currently have a usb led desk light powered by one of the monitor ports and it works ok. So in essense, for a webcam I need a usb cable from pc to monitor, yes? If that's correct, I may as well just run the webcam cable direct to the pc?

If you want to carry data from the USB ports to the PC you'll need to connect a Male USB A (PC end) to Male USB B (monitor end)

If you're only running one cable and it's long enough, yes, you can just connect it directly to the PC.
